The de Havilland Canada Dash 8 is a medium range, twin engine turbo prop that was introduced in 1984. After 1986, the Dash 8 aircraft were known as the "Q Series" (or quiet series), due to the installation of active noise and vibration suppression. Currently over 800 Dash 8 aircraft are in service, with forecasts of a production of 1,192 of all variants through to 2016.
